This route follows the European Green Belt – a unique ecological corridor connecting 24 countries along the former Iron Curtain line. In Lithuania, this green belt stretches along the Baltic Sea coast and the Curonian Lagoon, linking nature’s gems – the Nemunas Delta Regional Park, the Curonian Spit, and the Seaside Regional Park. The meadows, wetlands, lagoon bays, and sand dunes have become a safe haven for many endangered plant and animal species and an important stopover for millions of migrating birds. This journey is part of the grand European ecological trail, inviting you to explore nature, culture, and human history.
Discover the wonders of the Nemunas Delta by bike and on foot! This weekend route offers a unique experience: cycling along the picturesque Curonian Lagoon shores, hiking the "Bird Trails" into the Tyrų bog, climbing observation towers, birdwatching, and admiring the lagoon horizon. Overnight in the authentic Minija (Mingė) village will immerse you in the true spirit of life in the coastal region. The route is designed for eco-friendly travel – by bike, on foot, and optionally by water transport – to experience all the tastes, sights, and sounds of the coastal land.
