A certified master of joinery, furniture making and spoon-making national heritage of Plungė district manufactures natural wood furniture and carvings from wooden tubers. He spreads his accumulated experience and conducts educational activities for anyone who wants to learn the art of carving. He involves children from social risk families and foster home children, and has trained about 200 pupils. The craftsman, through educational programs, believes in and endeavours to maintain the craft in the future.
The purpose of the educational program
To encourage young people to take over the experience, to instil a desire to know how to make unique items, to create a unique Lithuanian-like environment.
Activities: During the education you will get acquainted with examples of by-spindles and geometric ornaments, carving tools, wood used for carving. The craftsman will demonstrate the drawing of the ornaments. Using the example shown, you will draw the ornament of the by-spindle on the table, which you will carve yourself.
Duration of education: 2 – 6 hours.
Number of participants: 8 – 12 persons.
Place: At your agreed place with the craftsman.
Seasonality: All year round.
Languages: Lithuanian.
