A certified artisan leads education in weaving, egg printing and shaving educations and shares her knowledge with others. Children and adults of all age groups come to visit her.
The purpose of the educational program
To acquaint with the craft of Easter eggs printing, its history, significance in the past and present, to learn the ways of Easter egg rolling.
Activities: During the education you will find out what patterns are printed on the eggs. Everyone will choose their own colours and learn the meanings of their wishes. The artisan will show you how to print eggs, then each will do it individually. When finished, the eggs will traditionally be rolled. This education is adapted for children. If an adult group arrive, the craftswoman would teach a more complex technique - egg shaving. You need to bring 2 hard-boiled eggs to the education, other materials and tools are supplied by the master.
After the education the craftswoman can organize a tour around the small cultural capital Žiežmariai. During this walk, you will see the one-tower church, the reconstructed synagogue, the Strėva River, the cultural centre itself, which is also a protected heritage site, and you will hear the history of Žiežmariai.
Duration of education: 1 – 2 hours.
Number of participants: 5 – 25 persons.
