While staying at one of the rural tourism homesteads in the Alytus district, you can get to know the region better by visiting the ethnographic museum.
The museum was founded in 1928 by local residents interested in the nation’s culture and history. It is the largest state museum in southern Lithuania. The museum preserves, researches, and exhibits the region's archaeological, ethnographic, and historical materials.
The museum also manages the memorial museums of writer Anzelmas Matutis and poet Antanas Jonynas. The main building offers educational programs focusing on archaeological and ethnographic topics.
