A certified artisan leads education in weaving, egg printing and shaving educations and shares her knowledge with others. Children and adults of all age groups come to visit her.
The purpose of the educational program
To introduce the craft of weaving, its history, significance in the past, present and ethnic culture.
Activities: During the education, the children will be able to make straw garlands/ necklaces or a garden “reketukas” made of twelve straws. Everyone is invited to tie a straw angel before Christmas, and a bird before Easter. The artisan will tie with the most patient ones or senior ones the straw gardens and discuss their meaning. If you want to learn more secrets about garden tying, you can discuss and learn different types of garden tying and stars and learn to tie for a couple of days. The craftswoman will provide materials and tools in advance.
Duration of education: 1 – 3 hours.
Number of participants: 5 – 25 persons.
Seasonality: all year round.
