Ethnographic Cellar – A Taste of Tradition, Stories, and Authentic Lithuanian Experience

Hidden within Sadauskai Homestead lies a special place – the ethnographic cellar, where Lithuanian traditions, flavors, and stories come to life. This is more than just a tasting space – it is a meaningful experience that allows guests to connect with local culture through taste, aroma, and genuine human connection.

The educational tastings held here invite visitors to discover traditional Lithuanian snacks, drinks, desserts, and other authentic flavors. But beyond tasting, it is about warm, personal interaction with the hosts, who share stories, little-known facts, traditions, and insights passed down through generations.

The atmosphere is truly special – unhurried, welcoming, and filled with laughter and connection. Guests leave not only with new knowledge, but with a lasting sense of warmth and positive emotion.

A key highlight of the experience is our focus on products made from viburnum berries (Viburnum opulus). During the tasting, guests are invited to try products made on-site from berries grown in our own fields. It is a unique opportunity to rediscover this traditional Lithuanian ingredient in a new and meaningful way.

After the experience, guests can purchase our locally made viburnum products, taking a piece of this authentic experience home with them.

The ethnographic cellar is a place where tradition meets taste and people.
Where stories are not read – but shared, around the table.

Skėmiai Tavern: a Place of Tradition, Taste, and Entertainment
Skėmiai Tavern is a place where history, flavors, and old village traditions come alive. Since the early 19th century, this spot served as a roadside inn and a postal horse-changing station along the Kėdainiai–Baisogala route. Carriages, carts, buggies, and stagecoaches once rattled past here, while local men gathered inside to discuss community matters. Today, visitors are greeted by four lively Skėmiai women – cheerful, musical, and full of energy – who have...
