Skėmiai Tavern is a place where history, flavors, and old village traditions come alive. Since the early 19th century, this spot served as a roadside inn and a postal horse-changing station along the Kėdainiai–Baisogala route. Carriages, carts, buggies, and stagecoaches once rattled past here, while local men gathered inside to discuss community matters.

Today, visitors are greeted by four lively Skėmiai women – cheerful, musical, and full of energy – who have revived the spirit of the old inn. Their welcome comes with songs, accordion music, theatrical storytelling, playful scenes, and engaging tales from village life.

Here, you can not only enjoy naturally prepared traditional dishes but also take part in a variety of hands-on activities: baking traditional gingerbread, making bread, joining a theatrical performance, singing, dancing, and tasting local treats.

When ordered in advance, the Skėmiai hosts prepare authentic old-style meals – from creamy vegetable soups and oven-braised meat to baked potatoes, fermented vegetables, and homemade delicacies.

Skėmiai Tavern is an excellent destination for school groups, families, teams, and travelers who want to experience living history, traditional flavors, and the true spirit of the countryside.
