While vacationing in the Kaunas region, don't miss the opportunity to visit Kaunas and the historic Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania.
In 1919, when Kaunas became the temporary capital of Lithuania, Antanas Smetona was elected as the first President of Lithuania. The Presidential Palace functioned until 1940, when the country was occupied and lost its independence.
Today, the building serves as a museum. Visitors can explore the evolution of Lithuanian statehood, learn about the country's founding leaders, and view historical artifacts. Adjacent to the building, the representative garden has also been preserved.
